I was excited to read this, I am not even halfway through it and have put it down. It reads very slowly and not very interesting, I had had higher hopes. I may sometime try to read it again; however, I doubt it.

A True Religious Classic
The Robe is a historical novel set before, during, and after the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. Much of the novel centers on Marcellus (a Roman tribune who gambles for the Robe of Christ at his crucifixion) and Demetrius (an intelligent Greek slave owned by Marcellus). The story starts and ends in Rome. Marcellus is sent from Rome to Judea just at the time of Passover and the death of Christ. Psychologically and emotionally shaken as a result of his involvement with the Crucifixion, Marcellus returns to Rome only to go back to Judea. As he travels through Cana and Capernaum, Marcellus hears about the miracles of Jesus and eventually learns about his Resurrection; though not a major character in the book, Christ is very much present in the story. Eventually, Marcellus must choose between being a loyal Roman citizen and a follower of Christ; this dilemma sets up for a dramatic and suspenseful conclusion to an excellent book.

Fantastic
This is the story of the Roman Legionnaire who helps crucify Christ, wins Christ's robe by casting lots, and is then driven by guilt to investigate the life of Jesus. In doing so, the legionnaire witnesses some of the occurrences from the book of Acts. One of the best books I've read in a while. Highly recommended.

The Galilean
A story unfolds of a Roman Tribune soldier's search for the man who wore the homespun Galilean robe. The telling of a fictional story based on Scripture is open to the mind of the author. I read "The Robe" years ago. "The Robe" tells a beautiful story of the importance of planting seed into the Kingdom of God.

POWER OF THE SAVIOUR
BEAUTIFULLY WRITTEN ACCOUNT OF THE CENTURION WHO LED THE CONTIGENT OF ROMAN SOLDIERS WHO CRUCIFIED CHRIST. ALTHOUGH WRITTEN QUITE A FEW YEARS AGO IT STILL READS AS FRESH TODAY AS WHEN IT WAS WRITTEN. INSPIRATIONAL STORY NOT TO BE MISSED.
