This book is a tremendous reference and has step by step instructions and pictures for about every sewing technique you can think of.

Good basic information
This book is a few years old, but has all the information on basic sewing procedures. It explains the techniques in an easy to understand way and has photos or drawings to illustrate the how-tos. It is a great reference book for clothing construction and home sewing.
